I've recently grown fond of baking... Here are two of my recent creations...


This was my first attempt at a two layer cake, it was warm out so the frosting didn't turn out very well. Neither did my handwriting on the cake itself.

The inside turned out pretty cool though! (Tastey too)


Fast forward to Independence Day. We had originally planned on going to the lake to see Ethan's family, but it was just too darn hot out and required too much driving (2 hours there and back, plus the previous weekend we had drove across the state and back). Anyhoo, I had wanted to make a cake for the occasion, and wanted it to look nice for everyone. This time to avoid dripping icing, I put my icing in the fridge to help keep it thick and easier to spread around the cake...


What do you all think?

It was supposed to be red, white and blue, but my colors didn't turn out quite as rich as I had hoped. Next time I will just have to add much more color to the mixture.

I'm really looking forward to whatever occasion comes next that I could make an excuse to bake some more. It's a lot of fun. I think I see an apron in my future...
